COOK/CHEF

We're seeking expressions of interest from experienced Cooks/Chefs to join our team at Avalon.

Avalon Restaurant & Cocktail Bar at Katoomba is set in the historic Savoy picture theatre building at Katoomba, and combines playful art-deco charm with hearty food, friendly service and spectacular Blue Mountains views.

We have a small but busy kitchen, preparing up to 120 meals per shift, and we're looking for someone experienced, with enthusiasm, flexibility and a great work ethic to join the team.

Our kitchen operates as a cohesive team, recognising that each member brings their own skills and experience to the role, working together to achieve consistently high standards of food quality and service for our guests.

You will be responsible for providing food preparation services and general kitchen duties including but not limited to:

  • Food handling, preparation and cooking, including ordering, storage and rotating of stock, under instruction of Management and the Kitchen Lead/Head Chef.

  • Preparation of all menu items - entrees, main meals and desserts - during service.

  • Operating grill, ovens and deep fryer.

  • General cleaning of kitchen, equipment and workstations.

  • Collaborating with the team to create new menu items, daily specials and unique menus for wine dinners, functions and events.

  • Work in a team environment, communicating and liaising professionally and respectfully with team members, wait staff and other areas of the business.

  • Provide excellent and professional customer service at all times.

  • Perform other duties as directed, within the scope of your skills and capabilities, while continuing to learn and share knowledge within the team.

  • Able to work a flexible roster including evening, weekend and public holiday work.

  • Adhere to Food Safety Guidelines, Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines and Code of Conduct policies and procedures at all times.

Ideal candidates will have the desire to work and learn in a fast paced team environment, with an ability to work under pressure. You must have excellent grooming and presentation standards, strong communication skills, and trade cookery qualifications or relevant experience.

A full-time and casual position is available, with remuneration at Restaurant Award rates. This role presents a great opportunity for the right person to forge a key role in our kitchen team.

$50,000-$56,000 (salary range FTE)

WAIT STAFF

About the business

Work alongside skilled, motivated and professional staff at an iconic Blue Mountains venue.

We are looking for Food and Beverage Attendants with experience in: 

  • Delivering high standard food and beverage service

  • Providing advice on Food and Beverage above guest expectations

  • Following correct sequence of service

  • Ensuring the presentation of the restaurant is maintained to the highest standard

  • Working cooperatively with fellow team members and contributing to team performance

  • Must be available to work on weekends, School/Public holidays

This is a part-time role, mostly working evenings and weekends with the holiday period included.
